Dear PMFA Family and Friends,
On Behalf of
the PMFA Board we would like to extend a happy and safe New Year.
With the New
Year come changes, transitions, and resolutions. As our new Board
takes office, we would like to thank the previous board for their
time and dedication to the organization. In looking to what 2014 may
hold for us, the board is extremely excited to put the PMFA in a new
direction. As many of you are aware, we have made a decision to
move out of the Keystone Bantam League. The PMFA will now be a
member, and founding organization, of the Big East Youth Football
League. This changeover will allow us to begin a new era for our
PMFA family and families to come.
A few of the
major changes with Big East, is a change in the age brackets and
weight limits. Currently the PMFA holds two positions on the
Executive Board within the Big East; this will allow us to have a
stronger voice for creating the new bylaws that all members follow.
I will make sure to continue to post any and all updates through my
quarterly letter and on our website.\
We also have
additional projects we are working to improve the experience for the
youth involved in the PMFA; these include continued discussions with
Plum Borough on updating our current bleachers, adding a press box,
port-o-potties, and assistance with general field maintenance. The
new Board is also in talks with a company to add an electronic
scoreboard to our field at minimal cost. There will be some minor
changes to improve our current bylaws, so that they are family
friendly and easy to interpret. My hope is that just like a new
year, a new Board will only continue to bring even more fresh and
new ideas for our membership.
current Executive Board in place, we need to complete the reminder
of the 2014 board. Each of these positions are volunteer, but are a
vital part that will help us to make the PMFA the best youth
organization not only in Plum, but in the area. I would like to
reach out and ask our PMFA family and help to move us forward and
apply to fill the remaining board positions. It will be you as a
parent that helps us achieve a successful 2014 and beyond. The open
positions include: Pony Head Coach; Equipment Manager; Fundraising
Coordinator; Concession Coordinator; and Building and Grounds
Some of you
have already submitted your letters and I thank you; however, I
would like to extend the opportunity for vested individuals who can
be part of the new PMFA, to submit a request. Please contact a
member of the Executive Board and I will personally connect with you
to discuss the viability and options. I anticipate these positions
to be filled at our January 9th board meeting.
I am extremely excited with trepidation to work with the entire
membership, as we embark on the new future of the PMFA. The board
will be working on many projects over the next few months before the
start of the 2014 season, and your input is always welcome and
refreshing. Continue to check the PMFA website for updates, or
contact a member of the Executive Board with questions or comments.
Thank you for allowing myself and your new Board the opportunity to
move the PMFA in a new direction for our new future.
